Faithful persistence… or simple stubbornness?

Christians are often encouraged to be persistent in their prayers–and there’s plenty of evidence in the Bible to suggest that God rewards that persistence. Luke 18, for example, provides an example where persistence is lauded.

But is there a point at which persistence becomes simple stubbornness–a refusal to accept an answer that we don’t want? What’s the difference between faithfully praying for something over a long stretch of time, and simply insisting that God answer our prayer in the way we want Him to? It’s a difficult issue and a tough question to answer, but Blaine Smith tackles it in his latest column about praying for (or against) God’s will. If you’ve been waiting for an answer to prayer and aren’t sure whether or not you should keep persisting in your prayers, Blaine’s thoughts will help you think things through.
