Do you care about people like God does?

Sunday’s Words of Hope Radio Program walked through the book of Jonah, asking a question: do we care about people like God does?

Here are a few excerpts from the transcript of Jonah and the Whale:

You probably can remember Jonah’s story. God called him to be a prophet, to proclaim his word and call people to repentance. But unlike the other biblical prophets, the Lord didn’t send Jonah to preach to the people of Israel. He sent him to Nineveh. Now there were two very large reasons why Jonah didn’t want to go there at all. One was that the people of Nineveh were foreigners, gentiles, pagans. Why should they listen to the word of Israel’s God? The other reason was that those people were the enemy. Nineveh was the capital of Assyria, and Assyria was the big bad bully living on Israel’s block. [...]

God’s heart of love is moved with pity for people who don’t really know what they are doing, who, like those Ninevites, “do not know their right hand from their left.” God cares about the countless people in the world who live from day to day without a thought about eternity, or the state of their souls, or even about God himself; people who live like dumb beasts, with never a concern about anything higher than their own physical comfort or pleasure; people who don’t even know that they don’t know the only one in whom there is life and hope — the Lord Jesus Christ. God has compassion for all such. He pities them. And he wants to break through to them, to reach them with the message of his love and mercy.

I stronlgy believe that one cannot be a child of God and imitate his qualities. People are not only drawn 2 God because of what is written in his Word the Bible; but are drawn because of the love, care and concern one displays for one another which allows ones to display God’s qualities. Being that we are imperfect we may struggle at times to always display that Godly love. It is an important quality to imitate and display wholeheartedly.

I am looking to give of me wholeheartedly for so many years now. There has been always some circumstance that kept me from not going where God wants me . I am ready to let go but i am weak . I fear the fact that God will not answer to this prayer. It is too big for me.

  • Sue says:

God will always answer your prayer. He is revealing Himself to you right now. Just read again what you’ve written. We are all weak. We cannot do anything for the Lord, if we try to do things in our own strength. We don’t have to either. Scripture tells us to cast our burdens, lean not on our own understanding, and that God is for us…so who can be against us. Or what? Nothing. God will not leave us, nor will He forsake us. With God all things are possible. What might be big for us, is never too big for God. Maybe God wants to use you right where you’re at right now. So don’t let the circumstances swallow you up. God has created you for His good and perfect will. That can be done whole heartedly no matter where you’re at.

  • Enoch says:

Sometimes I do pray stronghly to have peace of mind and follow what God want me to be, but my faith last no long for no any reason to mention.

  • Wills says:

Thanks for your thoughts; I am also looking to give of me wholeheartedly for so many years now. There has been always some circumstance that kept me from not going where God wants me. I have been struggling with my faith low down for some reason can’t understand.
I fear the fact that God will not answer to my prayers.

  • Chris says:

Faith as small as a mustard seed is all that is required to grow a giant mustard tree. Google mustard trees and their seeds and you shall see what I mean. Our pastor spoke about the size of mustard trees that grow from a tiny seed.

  • I’m weak. I’m a sinner. I’m just a human being. These thoughts are obvious excuses for disobedience. Start believing what the Bible tells about you. Be changed by the message of the Words of Christ.
Before I was once like you with the same weak confession. But the Holy Spirit touched my life and helped me to understand the words of Jesus.
Now, I have a new belief, new confessions about my self. As I believe and confess positive things, which happened to me, since I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior, based on God’s promises from the Scripture, my bad habits are also changed. I’m transformed totally by the blood of Jesus. “Let the weak say I am weak? Not! Let the poor say I am poor? Not! Let the weak say I am strong. Let the poor say I am rich. Why? God gives us all the reason to believe and change our negative confession about our selves. Because of what the Lord has done for us. Give thanks! Start believing what God has done and accomplished on the cross for us. Start Confessing what the Bible tells about those who believe in Jesus.

I am saved. I am cleansed forgiven. I was a sinner, but now I am made holy by the blood of Jesus. I can do all things through him (Christ) who gives me strenght (Phil 4:13).

The next time you hear the whisper telling you that you are just a human being, weak and a sinner. You know already that that’s a big lie.
Seek the help and strenght from God before the spiritual battle begins. You have sure victory in the Lord!
