Actually, there were never meant to be any Lone Rangers. Let's go all the way back to the original Lone Ranger - Adam, the first man God ever created. As the Creation saga unfolds in Genesis 1, the Bible uses a phrase repeatedly to describe how God felt about what He had been created each day - "And God saw that it was good." Genesis 1:31 says, "God saw all that He had made, and it was very good." The first portrait of Jesus I can ever remember seeing as a child was one that portrays Him as the Good Shepherd, with His sheep following Him closely and one little lamb cuddled in His arms. Interestingly enough, now that I'm in Christian leadership, I realize that picture is supposed to be what I'm about. And you, too, if God has entrusted you with any kind of influence or direction in people's lives. You're template is supposed to be that of a shepherd - of whom people say, "He or she sure makes a person feel loved." Our grandson knows when he was born. You know when you were born - even if you've got so many candles on your cake now that it sets off the smoke detector. Basic fact of life: your life had a definite beginning. There was a point in time at which you were born into your family. It's the same in God's family. What I did that day with that rescuer is exactly what I did the day I gave myself to Jesus Christ - and what I've been doing ever since. It is, in fact, the only way God has provided for us to ever have a relationship with Him - to ever have the sins of our lifetime forgiven and to be able to go to heaven instead of hell when we die. There's a man who tried to live his life here in light of what was sacrificed for him. I understand that. I hope you do. Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Always on Assignment - #4013http://hutchcraft.com/A-Word-With-You/Your-Mission/Always-on-Assignment-40132008-08-01T16:57:22-05:00
Well, if I hadn't seen it before, I sure should have seen it then. This ultimately wasn't about the flu or dehydrating or medical care. Those were simply God's tools to assign me to something He wanted me to do, to people whose lives He wanted to touch through me. And that's exactly why you are where you are . . . why you're experiencing what you're experiencing. I spent everything I had on someone I loved - and it was rejected. God knows that feeling. He spent everything He had on you because He loves you. The question is - have you opened up to His love or, one way or another, have you failed to respond? No matter what the reason, it's rejected love. Now, Paul is describing here two generations of loving wives, with the veterans teaching the rookies about that kind of love.
