if you will open up to the rest of the family, you're going to be really rich! Let different Christians challenge you, and balance you, complete you. There is no family member in God's family that you don't need and who doesn't need you, because we're just not all there. Squeezed to Obey - #6415http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-hard-times/squeezed-to-obey-64152011-08-12T09:38:09-05:00
Two thousand years ago the Gospel spread around the world by first breaking out of Jerusalem because some people were pushed and squeezed to do it, and right now He might be doing the same thing with you. If you're like my children or you're like the first century Jerusalem Christians, maybe you have to be squeezed to obey. Commitment Insurance - #6351http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-mission/commitment-insurance-63512011-05-16T16:58:08-05:00
Box yourself in; put yourself on the line for your commitments to Christ - the ones you really do want to keep in your heart. If you're tired of the ups and downs of spiritual inconsistency, you're hungry for a Christian lifestyle instead of just Christian binges - well, take out some commitment insurance; some brothers or sisters who will help you weigh in regularly. Frozen in Time - #6328http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-relationships/frozen-in-time-63282011-04-13T12:12:19-05:00
The early Christians gave Saul a chance and I'm so glad they did. Let's expect the best of each other. Not because we trust each other so much, but because we trust the transforming power of our Father's grace. Stay up-to-date on what God is doing in the life of that person near you, and don't leave them frozen in time. Saturating the Saturated - #6306http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-mission/saturating-the-saturated-63062011-03-14T10:22:27-05:00
Where are the churches who will not just aim their resources at watering God's people, but who will risk their buildings and their reputations, and their budgets, and their lives to build a bridge to their lost community? Not just to be a place to take care of the already rescued, but to be a life saving station for their community. Junking Up Your Appetite - #6277http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-hindrances/junking-up-your-appetite-62772011-03-11T16:34:01-05:00
God has so much prepared for you; so much He wants to say to you; so many ways He wants to lighten your load. But you come to the table saying, "I'm not hungry." Next time you're reaching for more mental junk food, reach instead for the banquet of the Bible. Spiritually it is the breakfast, the lunch, and the dinner of champions! So Many Flavors - #6278http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-relationships/so-many-flavors-62782011-03-11T16:33:30-05:00
You're on God's side when you're against whatever divides His body. It's not all vanilla. Its lots of flavors. It's all ice cream; but it's lots of flavors, and that's what counts. We're all the church. So, celebrate the variety in God's family. There are so many flavors. Christians - a Christian perspectivehttp://biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts%2011:25-26&version=NIV2009-09-10T15:50:52-05:00
Those that call themselves Christians have Antioch to thanks. In Acts we read that Christians were first given the name Christians at Antioch. A lost person may resist your invitations to Christian meetings and reject your Christian beliefs; but random acts of love and kindness are usually a key that unlocks even the hardest hearts. As Jesus carried out His rescue mission here on earth, He wrapped His message in concrete acts of love - touching the leper that no one would touch, going to dinner with "sinners" that the religious people avoided, going to a neighborhood where racial barriers said He should never go. When you open your mind to the words of God, open up your life, too! All this Bible you're learning and believing is supposed to be growing a Jesus-heart in you and a life that looks more and more like His. Every day, open yourself up to God's Holy Spirit to take the words He inspired and to rub them into your life.
