Hey, we should be glad no one ever put a price tag on us, huh? Or have they? Maybe you think you don’t matter. People have undervalued you. God uses the long dark night to accomplish some important spiritual changes. He wants us to have those times when no human answers, no human consolation, no human heroes, no human efforts can change things. He's bringing you to the end of what you can do, the end of anything you can even think of doing. Because that's the beginning of the things only God can do. But first, He has to get us out of the way. Our oldest grandson learned something that day in the woods - "I can carry my brother - with help from above." So can you. It may be that at this time in your life you've been assigned by God to carry someone who cannot make it on their own. Maybe you've got more than one person to carry - even a bunch of people. Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - The Downside of Freedom - #4342http://hutchcraft.com/A-Word-With-You/Your-Hard-Times/The-Downside-of-Freedom-43422008-08-27T16:22:04-05:00
The great gift of freedom -- tragically abused. It's a scenario God knows all too well. Because some of the people He has set free are using that freedom in ways that hurt Him, that hurt them, and hurt other people. Our grandson says he wants an Old Faithful of his own. So does God. He's looking for some "old faithfuls" He can count on. The Bible makes it clear that a lot of the things we do don't really impress God much, if at all. But there is one trait that gets His attention and triggers His blessing - faithfulness. All the life comes from the vine. It looks like it's coming from the branch, but it's only coming through the branch. We're just Jesus branches. This is the liberating secret of the Christian experience. Jesus through me - not me doing it for Jesus. Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - A String of Greens - #4625http://hutchcraft.com/A-Word-With-You/Your-Relationships/A-String-of-Greens-46252008-08-26T11:26:47-05:00
Circumstances can confirm what you felt on the inside. Maybe other people could be used. These things will point the same direction as the internal greens do. When God gives a red, don't make the mistake I've made sometimes and keep driving. You stop on the red. But as long as God has given you green lights, don't let fear, don't let uncertainty make you stop. Dr. Lee wasn't talking about some time-travel experience he'd had. He was talking about his deep feeling that when Jesus was dying on that cross, he was totally identified with what Jesus was doing there. It was his sin Jesus was paying the price for there. The great painter, Rembrandt, must have had that same sense when he painted his rendition of Christ's crucifixion. When his friends pointed out that a man in the crowd there looked like Rembrandt, he replied, "That is me." You may have never worked in a garden in your life. But you're planting seeds, whether you realize it or not. In fact, some of what's happening in your life today - for better and for worse - is the harvest of some seeds you planted years ago. And, as the Bible makes crystal clear, "A man reaps what he sows." (Galatians 6:7) Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Sharp Edges - #4774http://hutchcraft.com/A-Word-With-You/Your-Personal-Power/Sharp-Edges-47742008-08-20T15:29:48-05:00
Maybe you get sharp and hurtful when you're tired, or when you're interrupted, or when something or someone messes up the way you had it planned. It could be that you become cutting and harsh when you're really stressed, or really frustrated, or when you don't get your way. I know where my buttons are that bring out my worst. I suspect you know where yours are, too. But for the sake of those we love, isn't it time we finally did something about the sharp edges that keep cutting them?
