The horse didn't move for hours - even though she was free. That could be a picture of someone who's listening right now, as well. Christ has given you His new identity, His forgiveness, His grace for your grief, His freedom to make your future different from your past. But you're still standing there like you're still a prisoner; like you're still a victim. You're free! You can walk, you can trot, and you can gallop. It's time to get moving again! The Painful Road to Greater Results - #6111http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-painful-road-to-greater-results-61112010-06-14T11:48:22-05:00
Pruning is actually God's loving surgery to let His light go deeper into your life than it has ever gone before. You may not enjoy the process. You probably won't enjoy the process - but you, and everybody else is going to love the results! The Choice You Will Never Forget - #6068http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-choice-you-will-never-forget-60682010-04-14T15:19:27-05:00
On Judgment Day, it will be all about Jesus and what you did with the Man who died in your place to pay for all the sins of your life. He didn't stay dead. Three days after He died, He walked out of His grave under His own power. So He's alive, and you will see Him at the end of your journey. The only thing that will matter at that moment will be what you did with Jesus. God won't care what you did with Christianity, but He'll base your whole eternity on what you did with Jesus. The Cost of Putting Off the Repairs - #6054http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-cost-of-putting-off-the-repairs-60542010-03-25T09:41:31-05:00
Problem: the longer you wait to repair what's broken, the more expensive it's going to be. This is the easiest and cheapest it's ever going to be to make it right. One day it's going to get so bad it's un-livable that way. But the price of repairs may be more expensive than you ever dreamed. In the Bible, God is constantly urging us to get things fixed now. He says about our anger, for example, "Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry" (Ephesians 4:27). The Evidence You Are Loved - #6025http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-evidence-you-are-loved-60252010-02-17T14:54:33-05:00
The awful punishment that Jesus submitted Himself to was, in reality, the punishment for my sin - for your sin. And the worst punishment wasn't what people could see. It was the Son of God being totally cut off from God the Father as He carried all the horror and all the hell of all our sin. The Excitement of Exploring - #6013http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-excitement-of-exploring-60132010-01-27T13:21:47-05:00
Exploring new ground implies that you don't know exactly what you're going to encounter; how you're going to have what you need to meet whatever is on the new road. Listen to God's next statement here: "I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland." The Biggest Mistake of All - #5977http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-biggest-mistake-of-all-59772009-12-08T09:15:17-05:00
I'll tell you, if you know that Jesus has died on the cross to pay for your sin, if you've been "into Jesus" to some extent and you remain unchanged, that is serious business. And even though you're for Jesus and you agree with Jesus, you may be missing Jesus. The only response worthy of the sacrifice He made for us is to fall on our knees and give ourselves completely to the One who gave Himself completely for us. The Trouble With Life's Great Catches - #5950http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-trouble-with-lifes-great-catches-59502009-10-30T09:15:25-05:00
We have tried to fill a God-sized hole with things and people that can't begin to take His place. If we live like this, we'll live without peace and without meaning. If we die like this, we'll spend eternity without God and His love. He didn't leave us separated from Him. He pursued us. He sent His Son, Jesus, to sacrifice His life for yours and mine; to take the rap for all our sin, that defiant self-rule of our lives. The Greatest Miracle Known to Man - #5930http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-greatest-miracle-known-to-man-59302009-10-02T09:10:40-05:00
Jesus, this name you have to believe in, means "Jehovah saves." So when you "believe in His name," you're telling Jesus that you're taking Him as your personal Rescuer from the death penalty for your sins, because He's the only One who died for them. Which brings us to the eternal life-or-death question: has there been a time when you've done that? "New" in the Bible: 2 Corinthians 5:17http://biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Corinthians%205:17&version=NIV2009-10-01T17:37:03-05:00
When our sins are forgiven, we're not just an "improved" versions of our old self--we're a completely new person! We're no longer bound to any of the guilt or shame that previously bound us; we are, spiritually speaking, a new creation.
