God's Word on any subject is the final word. You'll know that eventually, after your "yeah, but" leads to heartache, disappointment, and shame. Face the truth now. Don't deceive yourself by twisting God's Word to fit what you want. Change your situation to fit God's Word. You don't pull the island of God's Word to the boat of your ideas. You pull the boat to the island. The Snow Plow You're Following - #6383http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-hard-times/the-snow-plow-you-re-following-63832011-07-05T10:55:31-05:00
The Lord will never lead you anywhere that He has not first scouted and prepared for you. The snow plow clears the road ahead of you, and so does the Shepherd. And because He does, you'll never end up stuck. I Know That Voice - #6280http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-mission/i-know-that-voice-62802011-03-11T16:27:12-05:00
You begin your day by getting used to His voice before you hear any others. Then, when you're getting six voices at once, you'll know your Shepherd's direction from all the rest. You'll sense the call - the tug of Jesus that you heard just this morning, and that you've heard so often. And you'll say, "I know that voice." Just as a flock of sheep recognizes the voice of their shepherd, so Christians will come to instantly recognize the voice and leading of Jesus Christ, their spiritual shepherd. Fold in the Bible - a Christian perspectivehttp://biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%2010:14-16&version=NIV2009-09-18T11:27:19-05:00
Jesus compares himself to a shepherd, leading his flock of sheep and bringing lost souls safely into the fold. Flock in the Bible - a Christian perspectivehttp://biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%2010:16&version=NIV2009-09-10T16:04:57-05:00
Jesus states one day there will be one flock and one shepherd. He's saying in the future he will bring all of his sheep from various separate flocks to him and have one flock encompassing all of his followers. Sheep and goats - a Christian perspectivehttp://biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2025:32&version=NIV2009-08-19T11:31:24-05:00
In Matthew, we read that Jesus said at the end of this age all of the nations will be judged. They will be separated like a shepherd separates sheep and goats based on their deeds. "Lost" in the Bible: Luke 15:4-7http://biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%2015:4-7&version=NIV2009-07-23T16:43:34-05:00
God values each person individually--no matter how many people join His family, He never loses sight of even the humblest member of His church. He'll go to extreme lengths to keep each one safe, as Jesus describes in this comforting story. Sheep in the Bible: John 10:1-21http://biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%2010:1-21&version=NIV2009-07-20T14:52:06-05:00
Jesus here describes himself as a shepherd, tasked with keeping his followers safe. Sheep are helpless and easily fooled creatures, but a good shepherd keeps them safe from predators and offers them sanctuary. In the same way, Jesus keeps us safe from spiritual predators when we put our trust in him. Our word for today from the Word of God is John 10:3. It says, "The watchman opens the gate for the shepherd and the sheep listen to His voice. He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out." Here's a fundamental that you need to remember every day. "You sheep ... Him Shepherd." And Jesus describes this incredibly personal relationship that you as a sheep have with Him as your Shepherd.
