The Responsibility To Do Good! This passage has two main themes that tie together. The first is the role of the husband whose call it is to love his wife intimately, and with precious care. 1 Peter 3: 1-6 - Into Thy Word Ministrieshttp://intothyword.org/apps/articles/default.asp?articleid=36042&columnid=38032008-11-10T17:45:06-05:00
Submission; Christ our Example! This passage is a tough one to understand in our postmodern, women’s liberation culture. I have a Savior like that. There are plenty of people who have no time for Jesus, no interest in Him, who have basically blown Him off. There are even people who consider Jesus something we used to believe in, something needed only be weak people. And in most workplaces and schools, you can hear Jesus' name used as a swear word most every day. Oh yes, His name has been trampled on. And what do smart sheep do? Try to figure out where they're going to find some good pasture...or try to figure out which road is safe and which one is dangerous...or move in the direction that looks best to them? Nope. They do what my wife did traveling in that unfamiliar territory out West. They quit trying to figure it out for themselves and follow the One who knows every mile of the road! In John 10:27, Jesus says, "My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me." I think little Harold may have understood the real issue of Christmas better than anyone else there that night. How can you leave Jesus outside? You have to make room for Jesus. And that may be the issue for you this Christmas Day. What will you do with this Son of God who came to earth to find you? That is the amnesia of success. God delivers us, cares for us, and brings us into a season of success, of victory, of results, of progress. But instead of that making us more humble and more grateful, and more dependent on God than we've ever been, we start to take the wheel ourselves.
