Icelandic: Solomon becomes king of Israel. Solomon asks God for wisdom to rule His people. Solomon gets wisdom and riches and honor. He shows his wisdom by determining the real mother of a baby. Solomon builds a temple for God but he marries a thousand women who turn his heart away from God. 2 Peter 3: 14-18 - Into Thy Word Ministrieshttp://intothyword.org/apps/articles/default.asp?articleid=36075&columnid=38032008-11-10T18:25:51-05:00
The Exhortation to Remain In Christ. We are to wait, but we are not to be idle while we wait. We are to be involved and make every effort to know Him and make Him known. Consequently... A 30-second film shows six people playing basketball, three in white shirts and three in black. Volunteers are asked to count the number of times the white shirt team pass the ball. At the end of the film, they are asked if they saw anything unusual. Most do not. The unusual thing is: halfway through the film, a man wearing a gorilla suit walks through the players, beats his chest to the camera, then walks off. The film illustrates a simple fact – that if we are only looking for one way to do something, we do not usually see other possible options. You literally have to fight for those quiet times in a world of noise. You drive without the radio on just so you can listen to your Lord. You leave the TV off, you skip the news, you exercise without the music, you go away if necessary just to be still and know He is God. Begin by praising Him specifically for attributes and actions that you've been experiencing, and then listen to Him through extended time in His Word. Pour out your deepest feelings to Him in prayer and listen in your soul for His responses. Keep a note pad handy and write down whatever He seems to be saying during this time when His voice is the only one you're listening to. If you dwell on how stressed you are, or how tired, or how sick or overwhelmed, you're done. You're dwelling on your empty tank. But if, on those depleted days, you consciously focus on your Lord's inexhaustible strength, your Lord's unlimited power, you will be able to keep driving when you thought you couldn't go another mile. We are speeding ahead with our great idea, our great plan, and we blow right past our divine Leader. God's telling us to turn, and we're going too fast to make the turn or maybe even hear His voice. So we end up on the wrong road or ahead of God and His perfect timing. All because we didn't inquire of the Lord, and we didn't slow down long enough to see what God wanted, where God wanted us to be. So often we start out headed down a road that the Lord wants us on, but then He makes a turn while we're still speeding in the direction He was going. You may not be on any military front lines, but the battles you've been fighting are taking their toll on you. Maybe you've been shot at, run down, there hasn't been much of a break in the action, and you've got some serious combat fatigue. In fact, it feels like you're losing the battle right now. You need some personal time with your Commander-in-Chief. No, not the President. No human leader can hold a candle to your Commander. He is, according to the Bible, the King of all kings - King Jesus. Maybe you've almost put your life on hold until you find that man or woman to marry. Don't waste a precious day of your life waiting for what you don't have. Live this day - single or married - with all your heart! And don't let your waiting start to turn you hard and cynical and bitter and negative. Those kinds of responses insult the God who said He will meet your needs, and they repel love rather than attracting it. The leadership of Jesus in your life is dynamic not static, and stubborn people can miss it so easily. If you go against God's plans, it's guaranteed pain - needless pain. No amount of rationalizing or spiritualizing can manipulate God to agreeing with your plans. You need to line up with His. That's where the peace is. A flawless plan, a leader who carries it out without explaining it, an amazing outcome when the plan comes together. Whoa, that's more than a scenario for some fictional TV show. It may well be exactly what is playing out in your life right now.
