YouVersion – changing the whole context of Bible
If you don't yet have a smartphone, you may not realise their compelling advantages. These include having with you 24/7: a still/video camera, diary (which can syncronize automatically to other family members, work colleagues, church etc.), satnav, photo album, note-taker, alarm-clock/watch, Kindle e-reader (there's a free Kindle app – and there are plenty of free classics to choose from), news updates, games as well as all the usual web services – browsing, email, Facebook, Twitter. Free (or very cheap) apps extend this functionality in many ways. The YouVersion bible app is a further opportunity for Jesus followers with smartphones.

In some cultures, a surprising number of not-yet-believers are prepared to subscribe to a daily SMS Bible verse and/or motivational thought.

Convert simple phones to smartphones: free ebooks for simple mobile in Africa
Smartphone use is increasing dramatically in the Majority World. But for many poorer people who own mobiles or aspire to them, a simple phone is all they may afford for some years ahead. So the new Worldreader system which turns these phones into smartphones of a sort, with cloud storage of ebooks, all accessed via the phone signal, is quite remarkable. Free ebooks can be placed in the hands of African school students, for instance.

Churches, websites and outreach - audio podcast talk: A Church's Mindset for Outreach
Church websites have huge potential. The Internet Toolbox for Churches offers a regular podcast with vital information on this area. Some podcasts are rather self-indulgent chats with a lot of padding around the content. This one isn't. It is 28 minutes of sheer clarity and practical guidance by David Hakes, so good you'd pay to go to a conference to hear it as a seminar.
