Sabbath in the Bible - a Christian perspective
As a reminder of the seventh day of creation, when God rested from His work, God instituted the Sabbath day as the one day of the week that the Israelites were to keep holy. On the Sabbath, they were to focus on God and abstain from their regular work.

I am convinced that the Sabbath Day is on a Saturday, but my husband says it’s on Sunday. Sunday was actually the day that Jesus was resurrected. But, the Bible and the Ten Commandments states: ” To keep the Sabbath Holy”.
So How can I know for sure WHAT DAY IS the Sabbath day?
Old Testament says it is on Saturday. That is part of the Law of God. You are right about that part. But when Jesus, the Son of God, came to live and died for us He fulfilled the Law. And, He was resurrected on the third day after His crucifixion (Sunday) as your husband said. Since He fulfilled the Law already we (Christians) celebrate the Sabbath Day (Sunday) as the symbol of His Resurrection. The Ten Commandments states “To Keep the Sabbath day Holy but Jesus fuilled the Law so that’s why his resurrection took place and that’s a Sunday in regards to His new way because he finished the work when he died and rose again.
CKV27 has it, I think–the Old Testament Sabbath was the last day of the week, Saturday. But most Christians today worship on Sunday in acknowledgement of Jesus’ resurrection and the fulfillment of the law. Why would GOD wright the Sabbth commandment Himself on a tabet of stone.
Puppaface, God wrote the Sabbath commandment on the stone tablets because it was the law under which His people lived at the time. Christians today don’t deny the Sabbath teaching, but they feel it has been superseded by Jesus and the new covenant he offers us.

What is the Sabbath? This was a weekly celebration of rest and worship, lasting Friday evening through Saturday evening. Traditionally on the seventh day, the Sabbath was instituted at creation. This was done at the temple meeting (tent of the Ark) before the Temple of Solomon was built, and then centuries later in the temple of Solomon. It is a symbol of God’s sovereignty and Lordship (Ex. 20:8). It is also a reminder of the redemption to come for the people under the Law, the redemption that we now have in the work of Christ (Duet. 5:12).
In John and Matthew, Jesus broke His Sabbath rest to help those in just need because God sent Him, the Savior, to heal humanity’s woes. The Law had strict guidelines pertaining to the Sabbath–how it was to be observed, and not violated. These laws were to lead the people to understand and know God as well as to keep the peace and not allow people to corrupt or ignore it. Unfortunately, the religious leaders corrupted it by adding so many countless, additional ordinances that the people were too tied down to the extra laws to ever look up and embrace God’s Lordship. These extra laws became restrictions and, ironically, violated God’s law and intent (Matt. 12: 1-8; John 5:1-29).
The leaders in Jesus’ time hid behind their traditions, and as they continued to add countless regulations to the original Law, so the original Law became too distant to see. They created a barrier of traditions that prevented them and the people who followed them from ever seeing the One True God and His plan for them. Perhaps this originally was a wall of protection, a hedge to make sure no one accidently strayed into unrighteousness. But, it went from a position of piety to a position of legalism and hypocrisy. Let us not do this heinous act. They felt they were justified by their acts. We can come up with all kinds of ideas and arguments for why we should stay the way we are or think the way we always have. Yet, these ideas are persecutions to our Lord. These are ideas that keep us back from His plan and our continued growth in Him. They prevent us from being effective with others in our relationships and opportunities (Mark 7:8).
In Colossians Paul confronted the early Christians were keeping the same festivals and religious observances for purposes of manipulation, seeking faith and assurance in them as well as placating spiritual beings. Some were adding in extras such as fasting on the Sabbath to prove one’s spiritual superiority. Paul tells them that they are now free from such bondage (Matt. 12: 1-8; Acts 20:7; Rom. 14:5-6; Col. 2:16-23)!
Because Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, He frees us from the bondage of legalism and false doctrines into the freedom of hope and rest (Col. 2:16-17). Jesus also frees us from the bondage that misguided, evil people place on others for personal gain. But, we must remove our attention and Will from such wrong paths, and place our focus upon Him. We must not see our traditions as a yoke to keep our eyes off His wonders and call. In a healthy church, we are to honor the past, but we are not to live in the past. We are to live in the present with our call and gifts, and take hold of His opportunities, serving and trusting in our Lord. We are to be in His freedom and rest, as He is the God of love and delight, not the God who burdens needlessly. And, we are to embrace the future and the wonders still to come (Psalm 55:22; Neh. 8:10; Isa. 40:29; Heb. 4:9)!

God is perfect and does not make mistakes. Why would He write with His own finger 10 commandments, just to throw one away later on?
Matthew 12:1-8 vs 8 for the son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.
Mark 2:27-28 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath. therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Although most Christians say they are honoring the day Jesus rose from the dead, neither He or any word in the bible say okay forget the Sabbath that God sanctified, and worship on Sunday.
Also most Sunday keepers to not ‘rest’ on Sunday, nor honor it.

Although the Sabbath is a good idea to “keep” meaning rest – are you going to walk to Church? Are you going to count your steps? – it is not required. Jesus does not put heavy burdens on people. The bible verses that Rkrejcir added are good (Matt. 12: 1-8; Acts 20:7; Rom. 14:5-6; Col. 2:16-23). I’ll add to that reference Rom. 14:1 and Gal. 4:10-11.

“Of course you will allow that as Christians we must not do any of these things, for you remember that Christ says that a man when circumcised becomes twofold a child of hell. 1 It is plain also that Christ neither observed the Sabbath himself, nor commanded it to be observed. And regarding foods, he says expressly that man is not defiled by anything that goes into his mouth, but rather by the things which come out of it. 2″
Taking a day of rest is nice and makes sense, but it is not required. May the blood of Jesus Christ unify his body, the Church, and lead us down paths of righteousness.
Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
The 10 commandments are Gods law for his children. Notice they are called the 10 COMMANDMENTS, not the 10 suggestions and NOT the 10 good ideas. If you consider yourself a child of God then you must follow them all. You cannot pick and choose which ones you will follow.
“He who keeps the whole law but stumbles on one point, he is guilty of all.” James 2:10
(In the context of this verse, James was DIRECTLY referring to the 10 commandments. If you murder someone and go before a judge, your excuse cannot be that you kept all the other laws and broke just the one. When you break part of the law, you still break THE LAW. Are you going to tell God that you kept MOST of his law? Think about it.)
The fourth commandment is the only one that begins with the word REMEMBER, yet it is the one so often forgotten. It is the longest commandment, smack dab in the middle, and extremely specific. It Almost jumps off the page when you glance at Exodous 20. Can you really prove biblically that the Sabbath not required or important?

I like the Biblical part that tells us that the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath(Mark 2:27-28). It is therefore not a burden as many take it to be. I would like to give a brief translation of what the Seventh Day is called in several African vernaculars;
Kiswahili- Sabato
Kalenjin- Sabbhatu
Ekegusii-Esabhatu
Others includethe following;

Spanish-Sabado
French-Sabbat
German-der sabbat
Greek-Sabbaton or Sabbata
All the above are simple proves about what the real Day of Rest is. By contrast, how does the Creator of the Sabbath expect us to spend this precious twenty-four hours’? Through the prophet Isaiah God makes it crystal clear: “If you refrain from doing your own business on the Sabbath, on my sacred day, and hold the Sabbath a delight, and the External’s sacred day an honor, not following your own wonted round, not doing business and not talking idly, then you shall have delight in the External’s favor” (Isa. 58:13-14.)
