  1. Bob Smith says:

I don’t think you should be encouraging people to with an open-ended question to consider whether they should read the Koran or not, as in yesterdays question of the day. The church is weak enough on the basic doctrines of the Bible, faith and endurance, and those in the visible church who may be on the edge could be tempted to follow the Koran. We don’t need to know the Koran to help Muslims, we need to know the truth more fully, to proclaim it more boldly. Muslims need Jesus, not a critique of their scriptures.

Warnings to Israel to not learn the practices of the pagans, and destroy their sacred things that they have tolerated are abundant in the OT. Psalm 1 encourages us to have nothing to do with the ways of the wicked, and Revelation 2 – Jesus commended the church in Thiratyra for not learning the deep things of Satan.

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
