Blasphemy - a Christian perspective

The "unforgivable sin" is identified here as blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Much debate has taken place about the meaning of this phrase; the most important point, however, is the rest of the verse, which reassures us that all other sins can be forgiven.

  1. asaph says:

Except that people who blaspheme the Holy Spirit aren’t saved… blaspheming the Holy Spirit is a clear and consistent rejection of the Saviour, Jesus… and you can’t be saved and reject Jesus at the same time… EVERY sin has been judged and dealt with in the finished work of Jesus Christ via the cross… that’s why there’s no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, and why we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and why God looks at us and sees Jesus the mediator instead of seeing us as sinful…

  2. Carebear says:

or… isn’t blaspheming The Holy Spirit when you intentionally commit sin? When one says, “sin today, repent tomorrow”. We’re all generally sinful yes and remain that way til the day we die; however many commit intentional/premeditated sin and justify it by saying they’ll confess later- or…perhaps those who do that do not have The Holy Spirit in the 1st place?

  3. blake says:

I’m confused by what the difference is between blasphemy and blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. Is not all blasphemy against the Holy Ghost?
