Blood of Jesus - a Christian perspective
The blood of Jesus--shed for us as a sacrifice for our sins--is what gives us access to God. Without Jesus' sacrifice, we would be unable to have a relationship with Him.

I am thankful for you work about the person of Christ and the value of his blood shed for the sins. But I was quite surprised when through a western Theologian I came to know that the Blood of Jesus is sufficient only for the spiritual need of the human and it’s atonment was just for spiritual remedy for the humanity and it has nothing to do with the phsycial healing. Could you expalin more about this.
Dear Shehzad,
God’s plan for all mankind, for all men and women, and children, is to have a relationship with Him. With the fall of man, when Adam and Eve ate the fruit, their was a chasm (a divide) created between man and God. Sin. This gap had to be bridged by someone. And it could only be bridged by a peson who was fully man (God in the flesh, Jesus Christ) and was still fully God (the Holy Spirit made Mary pregnant, God’s perfect, divine seed and Mary’s flesh). The infinite God became flesh (see John, chapter 1).
God’s desire for man was to enter back into a relationship with Him. He had to be redeemed. Man had to be made new. When Jesus shed his blood on the cross the sin debt was paid in full. Then, when people accept His free, atoning gift, Him taking our punnishment in our place, when we admit that we’re sinners and need a savior (The Savior), we enter into a relationship with Him. We are adopted into the family of God. We are seen as children of God. And through the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Jesus says to the Father, this one is with me, he or she has accepted my gift, and are washed in the blood so that they can be counted as righteous. In the Bible, please see refernces to the “Lamb’s book of life” in the book of Revelation.
Even though we are saved, and spiritually renewed, we are still in the body of a sinner. And will continue to sin. Until we die or are raptured (see 1 Thessalonians Ch 5) we will continue to deal with the consequences of sin. Cancer, heart disease, malaria, deformities, arthritis, etc. etc.
God heals whom He wants to heal (through miracles, doctors, whatever). But the true blessings come when we are empty, tired, dying, weak, and at rock bottom. Because our pride is removed and we call out, cry out, for God to save us and be with us forever. Surrender. We realize we can’t do it on our own. We don’t want to lean on our understanding any more. And we want to have life, not mere existance. And we want to live for God. For Jesus who loves us, saved us, and will always be with us.
One day we (Christians) will have perfect bodies. We will “put on incorruption” and “put on immortatlity”. Glorified bodies just like the risen Christ throughout all eternity. And we’ll drink the water of life and eat the manna of heaven that God’s angels fed to Moses and the Jews who wandered through the desert.
Life is about faith. Believing in what is hoped for and not seen. If God’s blood healed all our bodies what would we look forward to? What would there be in heaven to hope for, talk about, fight for, die for, give up our lives to love for? I have a motto. Die to live. It means love God, love others, and then you’ll get the most joy, reward, and glory out of life for His name’s sake. God bless you.
