Should Christians Care about Protecting the Environment?

If we truly believe that one day the earth will pass away and be replaced with a new earth (Revelation 21:1-5), then should we really care about protecting the one we live on now?

Yes!! I first learned about the creation care from Matthew & Nancy Sleeth of Blessed Earth, a nonprofit focused on educating faith communities about becoming better stewards of this earth. They have some great books, as well as a short film series that comes out this April. There’s going to be a simulcast with guest speakers, music and the films on April 21 at 7:30 p.m. EST. You can register to host the simulcast as a group or an individual, actually. Visit their website (http://ow.ly/1pyLP) to learn more.

Absolutely! I have such a hard time trying to understand how we, as Christians, seem to have gotten on a side that is against environmental issues because growing up as a Christian, I always felt as though we Christians should be at the forefront in protecting God’s gift and creation of this world as good stewards. I feel it should not be a political issue but a moral issue. Why are only liberals allowed to care about protecting and conserving this wonderful planet of ours?

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
