I have a question—it is my understanding that God said (although I can’t remember where I read it) that we are not to add to or take away from His word. (the teachings of the bible)I have had discussions with a family member as to the validity of a certain religion using their own book, written by their own religious leader, along with the bible. They explain it as this leader being a prophet, and that God told him that there is more than what was written in the bible, and that is what is in their book. My question is; if there is more that was to be included in the bible, why would God reveal this to only one person?

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
