Confess in the Bible: 1 John 1:9

When we confess our sins to God, we have His word that He will forgive those sins--there's nothing more we must (or can) do. Forgiveness is just a prayer away.

Fred, you might find this article on sin and confession helpful: http://70030.netministry.com/apps/articles/default.asp?articleid=35428&columnid=3803&contentonly=true . God will never reject you when you come to him in repentance, and He can give you the strength to resist temptation.

we all have sin and come short of the glory of God. I have sin too and i have done alot of things wrong in my life. I have lied, cheat, steal and destroy hearts and i ask myself why. why do i lied? because i dont want to hurt people and i dont want there remarks hurting me but the truth is this that I am hurting people by telling a lied. I am hurting myself and that is why I am going through things that is killing my heart and soul. Why do i cheat. When i am talking about cheating i am talking about my relationship with people that i love. I cheat because i felt unhappy with the people that i love. If it didnt go my way i just go to the next person until i feel better but the truth is this I am hurting their feeling to make me happy and that is why i dont have that bond with the people i love anymore. Why do i steal? I feel that I am stealing people heart and time and when they can do other things, I made him or her feel guilty and that isnt right either. The reason why I am saying these things because i want to confess and ask everyone who read this to pray for me. My life hasnt been the same because of what i have done. I just want to be able to live right with God.

Maybe the confessing is the part where we own up to the idea that we need to turn away from something, rather than the part where we claim or commit to actually turning away from something completely?

I know that part of the thing in AA is that if you are an alcoholic now, you will always be an alcoholic, but you don’t have to be a practicing one. Maybe it shouldn’t be shocking that we sin and keep sinning (we are all sinners). Maybe owning up to this idea and acknowledging that we need help to stop practicing in this area or that is an important step to recovery.
