Donkey in the Bible: Matthew 21:1-11

When Jesus made his triumphal appearance in Jerusalem, he rode in not on a majestic horse, but on a humble donkey. It was a telling symbol for a Savior who came not with political power or military might, but with humility and a spirit of self-sacrifice.

Spurgeon – the lamb dies but the donkey lives (because of the Lamb) it appears the honour of carring Jesus into Jerusalem shows the honour we have of sharing with the world His Life as the “as” who can be seen as “a living sacrifice”

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
