How can I be sure I have forgiven someone.and if I want let that person (even if its my spouse)back in the same place in my life. does that mean i havent forgiven that person. If i am afraid of him doing the same things, does that mean i hvent forgiven him?
Forgiving some one is one of the hardest things we have to do,and reconciliation is even harder.(Though im sure you know this)
God`s forgiveness is so great,he makes our sins completley go away.(again,preaching to the choir)
But we arent God,and I think we should forgive no matter what,but putting boundries up is by no means un-forgiving.
When God forgave David for the affair with Bathseba(or however you spell her name),David still had to deal with the consequences,even though God told him the sin was gone.
My mom forgave my step-father for an affair,and he still lives with us.That was a few years ago,and the effects still linger…..but were getting there.

I Thank God that this issue is coming up a lot. I had a past marriage to fall apart. But I had to search out God’s word with a lot praying. So I can say today that it is possible to forgive and forget. I’am now happily married to God fearing man. Without any repercussion of the last marriage. THANK YOU JESUS!!!! Now it took the Lord showing me this scripture and many others to get healed. If we look at the definition for forgive. We’ll find that forgive is to cease to feel resentment,to grant pardon. Then if we study it a little longer, we’ll find the the synonyms words for forgive is, absolve to think no more of, let bygones be bygones, to over look. We are God’s children and he’s our Father. We are to model that of our Father. If we also look in Jeremiah 31:34 it states …. I (Lord) will forgive their iniquity and sin I will remember no more. This is just saying God will forgive and will purposefully not remember the sin. *like daughters and sons Like Father*
So to me in as many words that could be said we can forgive and forget with God’s help, and he’s help alone. God bless and thanks.
