"Gospel" in the Bible: Romans 1:16

From one perspective, the Gospel is a story you might expect to be ashamed of: it's about Jesus meeting apparent defeat at the hands of his enemies, and returning to heaven without conquering them or establishing a physical kingdom on earth. But this passage describes the Gospel as the power of God Himself, and there is no shame in spreading the news of the amazing, if unexpected, power that God demonstrated through Jesus Christ.
