Happy Delays - #5747

I couldn't help but reflect on the ways of God over and over in my life. How often He has seemed to be taking forever, delaying the answer I was praying for. But in every situation, without exception, there was always a good reason for what seemed like a delay.

  1. Chris says:

I dont know why God chooses to answer some prayers and not others. But i do know for sure that he loves all his children, and if we are far from him it is our fault. Also Gods plan is perfect. He does not cause people to die or sin but he takes that and uses it for good.

Proverbs 15:29 – the Lord is far from the wicked but he hears the prayers of the righteous. (not by choice but we separate ourselves from him through sin

1 peter 3:12 – For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to his prayers

james 5:16 – the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. have you spent enough time with God that you know how to effectively pray?

Jeremiah 29:13 – you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart.

but perhaps if your prayers arn’t getting answered maybe your not seeking hard enough, just sayin. I dont know though.

  2. jeff712 says:

God will answer prayers when HE feels it’s the right time to answer them. Some prayers go unanswered for a number of reasons. One, some prayers he may feel are absolutely unnecsesary or sometimes he may just sit back and not answer them to see how you react to a test of faith. Also, pray for what you NEED, not for what you WANT. Hence: “The Lord is my Sheppard I shall not want.”

  3. Remy says:

Obviously, God answers prayers of un-believers also! I wonder why? Is prayer being answered a special privilege of Christ followers? In my observation, the answer is no! Muslims, Buddhists, non-religious folk, have “positive thoughts”, “whispered prayers”, etc., answered! I know people who would affirm that…most of us do.

I struggle to continue to pray when after years, and years, and years, there is NOTHING! WHY? I think I am praying in the Lord’s will…salvation for Loved ones….hope….a change in desperate circumstances…but nothing!

Yet I look at my athesist friends, and it is all ’smooth sailing’ for them! My friend, who despises God, had stage 4 Ovarian Cancer…but she has survived for 4 years. My dear sister, who Loved the Lord, had breast cancer, was declared “cured” and died two years later! What???

I guess God is serious when He says that this Earth is NOT our home! We don’t belong to it! So whey did He make it so wonderous and lovely? And why did He let me have so much LOVE here?

    Just askin!!

  4. letmekno says:

Sometimes God don’t answer our prayer because his ways are not our ways nor our thoughts. He see the end not the middle or the beginning but one day God will answer your prayer according to his will.

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
