The Bible famously promises that "the last shall be first"--and throughout Scripture it is clear that God places great value on traits that human society doesn't. In fact, God actively works on behalf of the meek and lowly. That is especially clear in this reminder that in God's eyes, the humble will be honored over the lofty and proud.
