The Last Supper in the Bible: Luke 22:7-20

The Last Supper was Jesus' final meal spent with his disciples before his death. During this meal, Jesus established the use of bread and wine as symbols of his body and blood, and of his sacrifice on the cross. Thousands of years later, Christians still celebrate "communion" in imitation of this meal.

  1. dalelamg says:

Why are we still taking Holy Communion if it is significant of Christ Death. He did not stay in the gray, He rose and if he is living in you and I holy Communion is no longer needed. The scripture teaches that take this in remembrance of me until I come. He has come in me and I do not believe that I have to take Holy Communion. Holy Communion is a richual.

Luke 22:15 “I have fervently desired to eat this Passover with you.” He looks forward to your presence at the table. Jesus invites you to come. But we must consecrate our hearts and souls, and come in Holy Awe, and Agape love, realizing this meal is in remembrance of His infinite grace and love for our sorry lives. Do this in remembrance of me is to love Him, to lavish our love on Him, it is not about us.

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
