"Obedience is better than sacrifice" in the Bible: 1 Samuel 15:22

Saul was rejected as king because he failed to utterly destroy the Amalekites, instead choosing to keep the best of the best for himself and to sacrifice to God. But God didn't want his sacrifice, he wanted obedience.

  1. Mr PBH says:

Our God abhors the sacrifice of animals/anything living. In Genesis 1:28-29 He makes it quite clear that, although we have dominion over the animal kingdom, we aren’t meant to eat them!

Does our Almighty Father ever ask for animals to be sacrificed to Him?

As 1 Sam 15:22 makes clear, the living sacrifice of obedience to His will is better – in HIS opinion – than the death of something HE created, used as a substitute for things mankind has done. Surely it’s better NOT to disobey and, as a result, commit sinful acts!

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
