Pearl of great price - a Christian perspective

Jesus tells us that the kingdom of God is worth giving up everything we have. He compares it to a merchant who is looking for a pearl of great price; when he finds it he gives up everything in order to obtain it.

  1. Ephrem Hagos says:

Nothing in man’s life can be worth more than knowing Jesus Christ, as he is, i.e., firsthand and personally, –the “one pearl of great price” promised, followed up, and delivered according to the following four stages for our verification.

    1. DAY 1
“I am telling you the truth: you will see heaven open and God’s angels going up and coming down on the Son of Man” (John 1:51).

    2. MID-TERM
“When you lift up the Son of Man, you will know that ‘I Am Who I Am’…”, i.e., the “Father”, self-sufficient life/fire as revealed to Moses and as promised for posterity (Ex. 3: 1-15).

    3. LAST DAY
Confirming his divine identity, “I tell all of you: from this time on you will see the Son of Man sitting on the right of the Almighty and coming on the clouds of heaven” (Matt. 26:64).

    4. CLIMAX
By the “blood” (eternal life) and “water” (Spirit), poured from the pierced side of Jesus, some have seen and continue to see the deeply mysterious, life-transforming, perfect and transfigurative death on the cross in terms of His synchronized Lordship or absolute authority over death and life (Matt. 27: 50-56; John 19: 30-37; 1 John 5: 6-12; Acts 2; 1 Cor. 1: 18-31; Heb. 2: 9-15; Rev. 5).

Perhaps it is time to re-examine the Christian perspective which appears completely disoriented!

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
