Peter LifeGuide Bible Study

Simon Peter was a follower like us--he wanted to be like Jesus, but he struggled with doubts and fears. At times he failed miserably. At other times he was used powerfully by God. This Bible study on the great apostle's life challenges and motivates us to continue to grow in Christlikeness.

  1. EmmysHouse says:

I’ve been saved since I was 7 years old (I’m 58). Recently I went through a 10 year back slide (not my first). After coming out of my backslide – about a year ago – an incident happened that made me so angry with God that I cursed him. Of course I repented, and was so disgusted with myself for doing that. I have been seeking my way back to Him and have been reading my bible daily, and approaching Him with a humble and contrite spirit. However, I don’t “feel” Him like I used to. I don’t seem to have the gifts of the Spirit (I’m always impatient and angry). My question is, has God left me. I know I deserve that, but is there forgiveness of sins of backsliden believers? Thanks for any response. Emmy

  2. George A. Allen says:

Yes Emmy, God will forgive you. God does not walk off and leave people, they leave Him.

Peter is a good example. He denided Christ three times the same night. He must have felt just as you do, but God forgave him. Peter repented. His sin was no worse than Judas. He would have forgiven Judas has Judas repented as Peter did.

Remember one thing; we cannot curse God, we may “cuss’ but the power to curse is out of our hands.
