God tells us not to put up pictures, images, or other things related to idols. We're to only worship the LORD our God.

  1. Shirley Erb says:

What is you r feeling on this. A manin our church doesn’t feel he can worship at our church if the cross at the fron t of the church is covered by our screen for singing. We do raise it before the sermon.
Is this not a graven image then?

  2. bigz1981 says:

Yes it is…He is driven by a graven image which should not be in the church in the first place…

The question becomes, then, is he worshiping God for who he is, or for the image of the cross? If the images of the cross is his main fuel for worship, then he’s not praising and worshiping God for who He is. He’s worshiping the cross as an idol, which the Bible speaks against.
In essence, the image of the cross in the church becomes a stumbling block for people who do not realize that it is not the cross that is to be worshiped, but God, Himself.

  3. wcalloway says:

Why do you need the cross in the first place if all you are worshipping is God. If Jesus was electricuted would we display an electric chair in the church?

  4. danzel says:
