Pray for those who mistreat you - a Christian perspective

Jesus' message of grace and submission often challenges what we would normally consider the proper way to respond. Here, he tells us that when we're mistreated or insulted, we shouldn't respond in kind, but should instead treat our enemies with grace, even praying for them!

  4. Paul S. says:

Prayer is a wonderful way to speak to our Father in Heaven and often I am humbled when I pray for others especially those whom I have either a dispute with or feel ill with. The Lord Jesus has humbled me in enabling me to PRAY for people whom I would have rather cursed on BUT He says to PRAY for them. My Lord and Savior has taught me to pray even for my enemies. Best Regards

Thank you for this site. Because I have been treating people the way I want to be teated and that never ever happens then last night I started to think there must be a curse on my life, so I started to search on line on how to break curses an ran across this site. Now I know how to treat people how hate me for no reason. I ask that every one that reads this would pray for me

  6. BelievingGrandma says:

To tatahera – When we think of the suffering of Jesus Christ, the hate poured out on him and his gentle submission to it – his death and resurrection – All for us – we know we can pray for patience, and seeing others as He sees them, yet to be saved. And then we can only respond as He would want us to, “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification (building up) according to the need of the moment SO THAT it will give grace to those who hear.” Ephesians 4:29 I am praying that you can do this, and God will see and hear.

  7. 40893 says:

Dear Lord, give me the patience that i need to face life’s trials and not from troubles run. I hope Dear God some happiness to find, let me keep this thought in my mind thy will not mine be done. I’ll always love you Lord. I hope dear people, please pray for me, i’m just a young boy, trying to live in this world, and there are many people who hates me, and i really don’t know why. I’m saying this with all my heart, my name’s Lucas, i live in a world which you can not imagine, and if some reason you’re reading this comment, may God be with you, because he loves you, if you gave God your life, without YOU, he can not do anything. Yesterday i was walking on the streets, and a man laughed when he saw me, and then he said: YOU ARE A NOBODY! HAHAHA! what did i do? I smiled! Because if i am a NOBODY, I AM HAPPY, because NOBODY is perfect. I would love to talk to you all, if you have msn, you can add me :) lucas_atividade7@hotmail.com

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
