In the Old Testament during Noah's time the earth was a vastly wicked place. Every inclination of evil that man could think of was happening. God heartrendingly decided that humanity needed to be punished, and soon after the flood happened. Much later in history, Jesus came to the earth and through his death he took the burden of punishment for our signs on his shoulders.
