To me, science and religion go hand in hand. I believe evolution is more miraculous than a 7 day “poof.” I believe the beautiful Genesis story is way of explaining God’s mystery of where we came from before man had knowledge of science. What we know today does not make the mystery of evolution, and the perfection we see through it, any less mircaculous. I’m just not understanding what all the fuss is about. Many, many, many scientists are Christians and Jews (Genesis being the first book of the Torah), and they believe in evolution. Lastly, Jesus never spoke of this, so as far a being a Christian goes, I don’t understand why evolution is so offensive to a certain segment of Christians. Most importantly, Jesus was a teacher and expected us to learn all we could about God, worshiping God both directly, in the way we interact with one another, and in the way we use our minds. Understanding evolution means coming even closer to God and understanding God is even more complex and mysterious and great than one who simply poofed us all here in 7 days. That’s a child’s story — albeit beautiful — and is actually a story of evolution. Thanks be to God.

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
