  1. Rachell says:

The covenant speaks of the promises that God has in store for us. Promises of blessings and abundant living. These promises cover also the descendants of Israel- the future generation. Any covenant has certain conditions and this one is no different. The Lord explained to Aaron the way the offerings of the Priest should be treated. He explained what is sacred and what is the Priestly portion. The will of the Lord should be our guide and the fear of the Lord the beginning of wisdom.
Leviticus 2: 13 says “… add salt to all your offerings.” We know that one of our offerings is prayer which relates to the Altar of Incense. We therefore add our salt to our prayer offering. We confirm that we are the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13).
By adding salt to our prayer offering we give ourselves as living sacrifices holy unto the Lord. We confirm our covenant of salt to the Lord. An eternal covenant made in the desert with Moses and Aaron.
In 2 Chronicles 13: 5 it is written: “Don’t you know that the Lord, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt? “. Here the everlasting covenant of salt with regard to Israel is again confirmed. This covenant has not changed nor has it been replaced by the New Covenant because the Lord’s Word “an everlasting covenant” stands and changes not. Aaron is no longer but Jesus our High Priest is there to take our offerings to God. Offerings where salt was added, offerings of living sacrifices unto God. These offerings that “…make a fragrant blend of incense, the work of a perfumer. It is to be salted and pure and sacred.” (Exodus 30: 35).
Praise be to God for a everlasting covenant of salt for both you and your offspring.

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
