Why Shouldn’t Christians Accept Millions of Years? - Answers in Genesis
There is an intensifying controversy in the church all over the world regarding the age of the earth. For the first 18 centuries of church history, the almost universal belief of Christians was that God created the world in six literal days.

Dose it matter if the earth/universe was created over a period of eons? Isn’t Genesis 1 an outline with metaphors to describe what God did. Literal days? I doubt it. After all there is at least one old testament scripture that describes a day to God as being a thousand years. Thinking aboutr it further God is not bound by time like we are. I beleive that the past, present, and future do not exist for God. For him all things are in his “present”.
I believe the Word of God literally. God said in Genesis 1:5 the evening and the morning were the first day, not that day and night were separated by thousands or millions of years. 2 Peter 3:8 says…with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day. I think that simply means God is not limited by time as we know it here on earth. What matters is that The Bible is the inspired Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16 says every scripture is God-breathed. I don’t believe it is wise to compromise the Truth of The Word by trying to make concessions so that it fits with scientific theory. I think it matters because it is a matter of faith in God and His Word and I don’t think God gave us his Word to confuse us but to guide us in every good way.
