Sting - a Christian perspective

Death has lost its "sting"--its power--because of Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Death, physical or spiritual, is no longer a threat to Christians, or anything to be afraid of.

Im trying to explain to someone that “once saved always saved” is not just it, that repentence is a daily thing and that if you die with sin in your life (even after you’ve been saved) and don’t repent there’s a very BIG chance heaven won’t be their home. Im not trying to judge or anything because thats no my place nor anybodys, but Gods and his alone. Im looking for verses that would help me back up what im trying to explain.

“Once saved always saved” is a true statement. And you are absolutely right about repentence being a daily thing, but if you die with sin in your life, that does not mean that you don’t go to heaven. Jesus died for the sins of the world….that means every sin that we’ve committed, and the ones we will commit. Let’s say I repent right now, and slip up by joining in gossiping and talking bad about other peple, and on my way home I get in a car accident and die. I never asked for forgiveness for gossiping, but that doesn’t mean that I won’t get in to heaven. I’ll try to find some verses to help explain this.

    did this help any?

Jessica_2010 is correct on the second part. And let me clarify the message that she’s presented…First off, the idea of “Once saved always saved” is wrong because a person can “fall away” from that God given faith. YES God will “never leave you”…as long as you BELIEVE, but a person can choose to push God away with his/her heart, and THEN God won’t know you with His Spirit. And you can choose to believe again (even though it won’t be very appealing to fall away in the first place), and His Spirit would come to you again (and NEVER leave you…as long as you believe in your heart that Jesus is God, and He saved you). God is a loving God, and he will never force anyone to love him, or force anyone to STAY with him…But if you are a Christian who wants to believe in: “Once saved, always saved”, it’s FINE, though, because I, as a Christian, do not believe that you are CONDEMNED TO HELL just because I interpret that “non-essential” of the Bible a little bit differently. As long as you believe in the One true Jesus of the Bible (not the Mormon Jesus), and do as he says BECAUSE you LOVE him, and believe in Him dying for you, you will be saved.

And to clarify Jessica’s second part, what she is trying to say is: As long as you believe in the one true Jesus of the Bible, and you have “the gift of faith” by his Holy Spirt, you will still be a sinner (and STILL commit sins everyday), but sinse you are a “true believer”, and sinse God already lives in you and forgives you for every sin, because you believe in his Son Jesus (”God in the flesh”) dying for you, THEN if you died with committing a few sins BEFORE you even repented for them, you’d STILL get into heaven. WHY?/HOW?—because God’s Holy Spirit lives IN you, and He already forgives you for sinning because you BELIEVE that He will forgive you. So NO you will not go to hell if you commit a few sins without repenting them before you just died. But just make sure you HAVE that “faith” before you die.

Just to add one more thought: “Repentence” is as sacrifice to proove (with physical and/or verbal “action”) to the Lord that he/she really DOES believe that Jesus is their savior. God WANTS you to repent, and will REMIND you to do it when He lives in you, if you believe in Him. SO, if the Lord reminds you to repent, and you DON’T listen to him one time or another, for example,….because you believe in Jesus, He will cause you to feel GUILTY for not doing so. And when you do feel guilty for not repenting, you are going to “feel” a WANT/NEED to repent. That’s how repentence works. So, when you repent (ask God for forgiveness) for all of your sins at ONCE (up-to-date) He will clense you, and spiritually wash you clean for all that you’ve sinned against Him (that you’ve never repented for, before). Amen. I hope this helps anyone’s understanding, of who chooses to read this. God bless.
