Study in the Bible: John 5:37-40

Can knowledge of the Bible save us? Not according to this passage, where it's made clear that just knowing the Scriptures isn't enough to find salvation. It's possible to have a head full of knowledge but a heart that's closed to God.

I believe this word to be true, even if one does not believe it still stands, let GOD be true and every man a liar, and i humbley place myself at the head of that list. If anyone reads this and is merciful please, please pray for me because i know about GOD but deep inside i dont believe I KNOW HIM. FOR the countless time i have asked GOD to be merciful to me so i can appropriate whats in my head to the inner most core of my being so as to truly believe and not doubt. To be a single minded man a lover of GOD and people. I constantlt ask that GOD would raise me up to be a man of GOD in my generation, that i would weap at the sinfullness of my sinful nature. I ask that he alone would become to me life and the passion and love of my soul, and yet i feel dead hard hearted im at a loss.

@Andrew sorry, we don’t have any Bibles in Kirundi. You might try contacting Wycliffe or Biblica. Both organizations are devoted to Bible translation and might be able to help you out:

@gvw Thanks for chiming in. Your passion and desire for a holistic faith is inspiring. God bless you in your journey.

  5. greg says:

Your faith is inspiring, remember from faith to faith, pursue holiness. Also remember we learn in the valleys – Rom 8:28. In His Grip, greg

P.S.there are 2 really good books that i would recomend to all: The Holiness of God by R.C. Sproul and Knowing God by J.I. Packer.

  6. Andy says:

I haven’t read the RC Sproul book that Greg mentions, but I’ll second his recommendation of Packer’s “Knowing God.” It’s a classic and highly recommended.

  7. SUSAN says:
