Talents in the Bible: Matthew 25:14-30

In the "parable of the talents," we get an idea of what God expects us to do here on earth. We're all given talents, some great and some small--but whether your talent is epic or miniscule, we glorify God when we use it to further his kingdom. God isn't rating His followers based on the number of converts they win over or the number of church pews they fill; He's interested in the passion with which we use whatever gifts he has given us.

  1. aSZONIA says:

I BELIVE THAT jESUS HAS GIVEN EACH OF US SPECIAL TALENTS THAT CAN ONLY BE USED PROPERLY WHEN WE ACCEPT HIM,
WE ALL ARE UNIQUE,AND ARE FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE AND WHEN WE REALISE THIS THEN WE CAN BE THE PERSON GOD HAS CREATED US TO BE. TALENTED, TO DO HIS WILL ANDS BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS HE BRINGS TOWARDS US. GOD BLESS STAY BLESS

  2. Albert Brasil says:

I Agree ! We need to use all that God has given to us. We need to live only for Him. And all that we have is for His Glory !

  3. pastorsam says:

God give a unique gift to individual to work and make profit with it in the vine yard of the Lord, there is no way you can be like other man or woman because we are uniquely made to fit into God’s divine plan in our lives, therefore we must guide our talent and gift jelously and make profit for God in it.

Remain at your level , stay at your corridor, do not go into area God has not given unto you, otherwise you will mess yourself up, people try to become what god has not make them to become and in the event of doing that they become nuisance.

  4. alarc says:

It is also about the responsible and optimum use of our talents, including, our wealth, resources and opportunities. If there is an opportunity coming by us to help someone and we truly can, we are bound by the teaching of Jesus to do so so; perhaps our bigger challenge, especially for organizations to use their resources judiciously, charitably, responsibly and optimally. I think that the Lord has a clear teaching for us to follow that we are stewards of the kingdom and we will be assessed how well, how honestly, how transparently, how charitably and how efficiently we have used our resources.

  5. rclawson says:

I have heard a phrase time, talent and treasure. The Lord wants it all. It seems as though we try on our imagination to do the work of the Lord in what ever capacity He wants to use us in. When we read in John 6:45 it seems as though our whole, entire, complete understanding of and confidence in is the working of the Holy Spirit. He is the one who takes down the veil so we understand what the Lord is saying to us.
I was working on teaching a Bible study and it became very real to me that my talent was not mine, but the Lords. He has in His wisdom and mercy given me a stewardship over a particular work He has deemed. I study to show myself approved, a workman needn’t not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. We obey His instructions, He equips us as we die to self and obey Him. It seems as though we might fast and pray and allow the working of God to write the love song in our hearts that He wants to sing to the congregation. It is not because I memorized or came up with a brilliant introduction to teach the women sitting in front of me, it is because I empty out so He can fill me up. It is the same way with time, and treasure.
We do not think the way He does, we have to die to self to take on the mind of Christ.

  6. Ernesto T. Paracha says:

talents is the ability and capacity given by God to do God’s will in this life as a part of the body of Christ. If you are a part of the Church then you are not excempted to do your part, everybody are accountabl;e of what we have done in this life! elparacha

  7. Phillip Chakawarika says:

Talents are special abilities given to mankind by God in order that they trade them for a profit. When profit is made, God is glorified.

  8. Phillip Chakawarika says:

    Talents:
The moment that one enters into the arena or corridors of their calling, they automatically beging to exercise their gifting or talents. They do so with much energy, enthusiasm and motivation. Such motivation is an internal drive deposited by God and this internal drive can not be discouraged by any external forces.

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
