Tamar - a Christian perspective

The story of Tamar is an ugly tale of sin and hypocrisy, and is a vivid reminder that sin tainted Abraham's lineage from the very beginning.

“The story of Tamar is not one of sin and hypocrisy….” You are mistakened. It’s the reverse. It is the mysterious way in which God worked with someone who was courageous and faithful enough to risk her life (death by stoning)to continue the blood lineage of Judah (the line in which Jesus -the Messiah) is to be born in (Gen.49:10, Mt.1:3). Judah, himself had to conclude that Tamar was more righteous than himself (Gen.38:26). Tamar has honorable mention in biblical providence.

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
