  2. Rkrejcir says:

“Trumpet” means God is calling like a war cry, of impeding danger, and for us to pay attention (Ex. 19:16; Psalm 47:5-9; Isa. 31:4; 42:13; Amos 2:2).

I have never understood the full meaning of “the dead in Christ” and the timing of when the soul goes to Heaven. What happened to the Old Testament followers that died before Christ died on the cross? Are those the ones that are “asleep”, and “dead in Christ” waiting to go up? What happens to the souls of Christians who were born and died after Jesus died on the cross. Do they immediately go to Heaven or are they also “asleep” or “the dead in Christ?” I’ve heard many people say our souls immediately go to Heaven when we die, but some of these passages make me wonder if we are “asleep” until Jesus returns for us.

Please let me know your interpretation of this.

    Thanks

  4. C. King says:

I believe the asleep and dead in Christ are those who have lost faith. Christ will return to them first to make them aware of what is to lose.

I was asleep. One night while sleeping I dreamed that I was ascending an alabaster stairway with golden stairs. Jesus was at the top of the temple, he held me and I felt great joy. Then he whisked me away and dropped me, and I kept falling. I woke up in my bed, and was forever changed.

  5. firefish73 says:

i believe the dead in Christ meaning the ones martered in tribulations shall be brought back to rein with Christ as High Priests for the one thousand years. After that the ones still asleep shall be awaken and their will be war again against the evil of the world but God shall prevail…

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
