"Union" in the Bible: Genesis 2:24
The union of two people through marriage is a very holy thing according to the Bible. It says that the two people will be united and will become one flesh.

I know that this does not mean that he will not see or participate in his family, but what does it really mean? My husband grew up in a home where his father abandoned him and his two brothers and their mom. Then their mom had a nervous breakdown. She is so clingy and has instilled in each of the boys an extreme sense of codependency so that they all turn to her when they can’t seem to make it in the real world. She has no friends and no life outside of her three sons. When we changed my husbands phone over from her plan to mine, I thought she was going to have a heart attack she was so angry. How do I get her to understand the boundaries and how do I get him to understand that there need to be boundaries. He thinks that I just don’t like his mother and that I am punishing her for that when I say that she has to call before she comes over to the house. How do I impart to my husband the necessity of taking care to cleave to his spouse and letting go a little bit of the mother who refuses to let him grow up?
