Worshiping When it’s Not Easy

It’s easy to worship God when the mood and setting are pitch perfect, but what about when things aren’t quite right? How do you worship when you just don't feel like it?

That’s when you should go straight into worship. You ask God for an infilling of the Holy Spirit and to remove this spirit that is attacking you at that time.

How many times have I been here, where I really didn’t feel like worshipping? Yet I did anyway, & came away so refreshed & so very thankful that I did? Countless times! To me, though, worship is not just about praising or singing or what many people think of as worship. To me, worship is a lifestyle. It’s how I live my life & how I strive to do what I can to make sure that what I do honours & brings glory to God. It’s when I eat & when I sleep, when I work & when I play. In everything I do, I must do it all so that God is pleased.

1 Corinthians 10:31 (Contemporary English Version) ~ “When you eat or drink or do anything else, always do it to honor God.”

Yes, this is really hard when the feelings to do so aren’t there, as well as when times are tough. However, it must be done, whether I feel like it or not. We can’t go by our feelings, for they’re deceptive many times. Rather, we must praise God & give thanks in everything, even if it seems as if there’s nothing for which to be thankful. I’ve learnt that, when this happens, my attitude changes & I begin to worship truly, & my whole heart joins in as well after a while.

“[Thanksgiving and Prayer] We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.”
