Who is my mother? - a Christian perspective

Although Jesus had a physical human family, he considered his disciples and followers to be his true spiritual family.

My earthly mother abandoned me at a very early age. I used to hide this fact from everyone because I was so embarrassed. I watched as all my brothers and sister received support that I wished and longed for on a daily basis. Now, I am older with my own children and my mother has become quite dependent on me for things that are quite burdensome at times. She does not do this with any of her other children. My family does not display any real affection to one another, except anger. This is what I learned at a young age, and it is now happening in my family. I want all this to change, and even though I am trying to walk with God, and intercede on all our behalf; nothing seems to be working. The same vicious cycle is now repeating itself in my house. I have no real joy at home, and still feel like their isn’t any support in whatever I want to do. My husband and even my own children ridicule my desires to walk more closely with the Lord. They flat out refuse to even go to worship for one excuse or another. It has become a cause for many heated debates and arguments in the household. What can I do but continue to receive the blame for everything that goes wrong around me. Why this dark cloud, especially since I want to live to serve the Lord. Even when I am listening to ministries or studying, I am attacked from within. What do I do now?

    To Esther2010:

As I read the first 3 lines of your comment, I thought I was reading something I myself had wrote. The hurt of rejection is so unbearable. Than as we set out to be parents ourselves it doesn’t take long to realize that it’s hard to give something that you hadn’t received… unconditional love. I’ve wrestled with this most of my life. This is the scripture that took most of the burden away from me. Knowing that even though my flesh family was somewhat disfunctional, my spiritual family is filled with the love of Christ and is WORLDWIDE!!!

Take courage Sis. If you have not been baptized in the HOLY SPIRIT yet, I say you need to seek that right away!!! That has been the core of my deliverance from the torment of the rejection spirits. When you say you are attacked from within, it’s actually oppression from without. Jesus is within you but oftimes we are so burdened on the outside with the enemy whispering lies of our worthlessness in our ears that we fail to hear the still small voice of Christ in our hearts. We are always victorious in HIM.

No I’m not saying that I have fully overcome… because it’s a daily walk… we daily carry our cross… we pray for ‘daily’ bread. But we get stronger and GOD gives us Understanding, Knowledge, Wisdom and Discernment to help us resist the enemy so we can watch him flee.

HERE’S MY FAV PART OF THIS SCRIPT:

50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

WE HAVE FAMILY AROUND THE WORLD!!! MORE THAN WE KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH :)

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
