Belly - a Christian perspective
Jesus--frustrated with people asking for a sign--says in these verses in Matthew that the only sign that will be given to them is the sign of Jonah. Much like Jonah spent 3 days in the belly of a whale, Jesus will spend three days in the heart of the earth. He adds that Nineveh itself will condemn those that are listening to Jesus. If Nineveh repented because of Jonah, how much more should those that listened to Jesus the Son of God?
