It Really is "How You Play the Game" - #6072
Hold your head high, no matter what position you play. Don't let that discouragement wear you down any more - not if you're giving it all you've got. If you are, then in God's eyes, the only opinion that ultimately matters you are a champion. Earth may not have many rewards for you. But God's gold medal will one day hang around your neck!

The Grandeur of an Old Faithful - #6045
What an honor to be a man or woman about whom Almighty God can say, "I can count on her. I can count on him." He is looking for warriors who will continue to stay at their post, whose commitments He and others can depend on, who will finish what they started. If that's hard for you, remember that faithfulness is part of what the Bible describes as "the fruit of the Spirit"

No Timeouts, No Victory - #6044
ray before you take that call. Pray before you make that call. Pray before you write that e-mail. Pray before you start your journey. Pray before you answer, before you make that commitment, before you make that purchase, or before you ask someone for a date or accept that date. Pray through your day before you face your day.

A Killer Storm and a Calm Captain - #6039
There is not one thumb-breadth of this universe that is not under His control! And whatever has come into your life has had to pass through His hand first. He's either sent it or allowed it. And He loves you and He knows what you need and what you can handle, so long as He is at the wheel.

The "Do You Really Believe?" Test - #5995
The issue in whether or not you have a relationship with God isn't what beliefs you agree with or what meetings you go to, or what religion you're a part of. The whole issue is, "Where are you placing your trust to get you to heaven?" In your Christianity? In your Christian religion or rituals? In your Christian upbringing or your Christian knowledge? Or even trying to live like a Christian? None of those can save you from the awful death penalty for our sinful rebellion against God. It's got to be Jesus...all Jesus...only Jesus.

Dispelling the Fog - #5985
Praise acknowledges a sun that is shining even when the fog is the heaviest. If this is a dark time, don't deepen your sadness by ignoring the Lord, or abandoning the Lord, or turning on the Lord. This is a time to throw yourself on His goodness; a time to ask Him for the grace to praise Him for all that He still is, all that He's done, and all that He is going to do. As Amy said, "Praise lifts the sadness." It dispels the fog.

Darkness Behind You, Sunlight Ahead - #5978
Paul says, Jesus "gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness" (Titus 2:13). How can we drift back into the things He died to get us out of? I can't think of a greater insult to the Man who died for you. Because of Jesus, you were able to drive out of the storm, out of the darkness, out of eternal danger. Don't go back there. Everything you were made for, everything you need is on the Jesus-road ahead of you.

Sending Ammo to the Enemy - #5976
If you are more and more getting life revolving around you, if you're becoming more and more self-seeking, self-promoting, self-centered, the devil has you exactly where he wants you. It's exactly where he was just before he was expelled from heaven. Now, before you fall, "humble yourself under God's mighty hand." It never has been all about you. It's all about Him!

The Cannons of Fear and the Courage of Faith - #5968
Fear often keeps us from God's best - parenting out of fear, leading (or failing to lead) because of fear, resisting God's call or God's assignment because of fear, missing God's best because of fear of failure, leaving someone we know spiritually lost because of fear of sharing Jesus with them. Faith, on the other hand, focuses on the greatness of your Lord and reaches for His hand, and says, "I'll go if You're going with me."

The Noise of Neglect - #5966
The woman you married is a flower that can flourish with your care or wither with your neglect. She needs you. She was wired by God to need you. And you need her. Tell her that. Tell her you're sorry for so often running past her instead of running to her. And tell her, "Honey, I'm home," because you've been away too long.
