Honor in the Bible: Exodus 20:12
The fifth of the Ten Commandments instructs us to honor our parents. Stable family relationships are important in the Bible--and while the realities of our sinful world sometimes make it impossible, whenever we can, we are called to show respect to our fathers and mothers.

"Honor father" in the Bible: Ephesians 6:1-3
Paul echoes one of the ten commandments in Ephesians telling us to honor our father and our mother. He mentions that this is the first commandment that comes with a promise. If we truly do honor our father and mother we will enjoy a long life on this earth.
