Church Talk - #6191
We've got to ask God to help us get beyond our "Christianese" and to begin to explain the great words of God's rescue in non-religious words.

Being tools for the Master. Our part in God's plan of evangelization.
Guest article by Mathew Varghese, General Secretary of Union of Evangelical Students of India. A reminder that the medium is not the message, and that though the Web is indeed a tool, ultimately, we are the tools the Master uses. © Ethne Magazine, used by permission. Communication is possible in different ways. We use various tools to get the message across. These days, we see the highest advance of media utilization in missions. But the sad reality is that in the fast track of technological know-how, we often tend to forget Jesus' way of communication.

The Missing Messenger - #6146
Blood on our hands because of the silence of our lips. Don't let that happen to you or to the people God is counting on you to tell about His Son. Whatever fear of what might happen if you told them about Jesus, could it possibly be as fearful as what will happen if you don't tell them?

Book review: Foreign to Familiar - A guide to Understanding Hot- and Cold-Climate Cultures, by Sarah Lanier
Weather shapes our different national cultures more than we realise. A cross-cultural worker with wide experience, Lanier explains the vital differences between hot- and cold-climate cultures. This is not just of passing interest, because it dramatically affects how we communicate the gospel within different cultures. In a cold-climate culture, social life is lived primarily within the home. In a hot-climate culture, community life and relationships are conducted outside. Hot-climate cultures are far more relational, much less task-oriented.

Your Mirror, Your Friend - #6092
Thank God for the mirror He's given you. You probably should be thanking them, too. Don't run from the hard truth any longer. It will chase you no matter where you go, no matter how hard you run. The truth may be hard to face. It may mean opening up to someone who can really help you with it. It may mean removing a mask you've been hiding behind for a long time, but it's worth all that and more. Because it's the truth, and only the truth, that will finally set you free.

Lost in Our Language - #6057
The spiritually dying people around us hear us Christians announcing our all-important message, often in words they don't understand. We have life-or-death information that their eternity depends on. We can't afford for them to get lost in our language, or they may be lost forever.

The gospel in the Bible - a Christian perspective
What is the Gospel? Paul reminds us here of the basic truth of the Gospel: that Jesus died for our sins in fulfillment of God's plan through the ages.

The Language They Speak - #5786
Obviously, the need to translate Christ's message is hard to miss in a foreign setting where there is a clearly different linguistic language. But the need to translate the Jesus-story is easy to miss when our neighbors and friends speak the same linguistic language we do, but a different cultural language. The words of our Christian "tribe" simply have no meaning, or the wrong meaning, to the lost "tribe" right next to us.

The Three-Open Prayer - #5764
God may open a door through something that happens in the news, something that's happening in your family or their family, or a hurting time in their life or your life. For those who have eyes to see them, the world is full of opportunities to bring up life's most important relationship.
