Particularly highlighted in this video: social media needs to permeate through the entire organization, and is not something that is just 'done' by the marketing department. Richard Branson is cited as an example of a CEO who is constantly tweeting.

Platform book is vital read for non-profits & Christian ministries
Michael Hyatt's new book 'Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World' is receiving a lot of praise. Hyatt is the chairman of Christian Publishers Thomas Nelson. Christian leadership guru DJ Chuang says in his blog review that it is "hands down the best book I've ever seen about blogging and social media!" Whether you are a non-profit or ministry looking to extend your voice, or an outreach team wishing to use social media to directly touch outsiders, this book is for you.

Social by social: free e-book about using Web 2.0 and social networking for non-profits
It’s just been published by UK’s NESTA (National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts), and is written specifically for the public and non-profit sectors. Essentially it is a valuable practical guide to using Web 2.0 concepts and social networking to communicate effectively. The publishers say: “Social by Social is a practical guide to using new technologies to create social impact. It makes accessible the tools you need to engage a community, offer services, scale up activities and sustain projects. Whoever you are, it shows you how to take technology and turn it into real world benefits.”

Free e-books on using Facebook and fan pages for non-profits, churches etc
Internet marketing company Hubspot are offering a free 30-page PDF e-book explaining how to set up and use Facebook fan pages. Although this is in the context of marketing a company via Facebook, much of the information is very helpful to anyone starting or maintaining a fan page for non-profit, church, ministry or evangelism. Best introduction I’ve seen on the subject.
