Slave in the Bible: Romans 6:15-23
The New Testament often uses the image of slavery to describe a state of total subservience to a spiritual ruler. In this case, we learn that we are spiritual slaves to sin and its power until we find freedom in Christ. We become "slaves" to Christ instead, and find that slavery to Christ is in fact true spiritual freedom.
