Going Back to Where You Went Wrong - #6860
Biblical repentance always goes hand in hand with restitution; making things right at the point where you went wrong. To restore the money you stole, to rebuild the reputation you tore down, to ask forgiveness of the person you hurt, to go back to that person you sinned with sexually and ask their forgiveness. If you want to avoid falling again, retrace your steps.
No Specifics, No Solutions - #6857
God calls us to specific repentance. We may have to go back and clean up a sin that we buried instead of dealing with it, maybe a long time ago. Until you've really brought it to the cross, you should not forget it. Once you have brought it to the cross, you shouldn't remember it, because God has forgotten it forever at that point.
Streamlined Spirituality - #6837
David said in Psalm 42, "Where can I go and meet with God? My heart pants for the Lord." Is it time to say, "Lord, give me an insatiable appetite for You"? Maybe you'll want to un-streamline the God time in your life and grow beyond the point of "How short can we make this?" And grow to the point where you can say, "Lord, I can't get enough of You."
Living Between Trapezes - #6791
If you're in between trapezes right now, remember, this is a terrible place to lose your concentration. Bloom where you're planted. Be all you can be right where you are. Actually that's the best way to get safely to the destination that you want so much.
Never Turn Off the Alarm - #6781
If the missile of sin's destruction is headed your way, I guarantee you, the Holy Spirit's alarm is going off in you now. Turn off the alarm and the price will be too high to pay. Respond to the alarm, and you will be able to get out while you can.
The Problem With Panic - #6758
Those seniors who panic over singleness often get the wrong person. In their rush, they often make a life-long mistake. When they think time's running out, God is right on schedule. Remember, if you panic, you can make a life-long mistake.
Pollution Leaves a Trail - #6754
Sin twists everything around. You can't sin in a vacuum. You have an ugly trail of wounded people left behind when you're living outside of Christ's boundaries. There's pollution spattering everywhere close to you when you depart from the Word of God. The two you're hurting the most? You and a Savior who loves you very much; who died so you don't have to do that sin.
The X-Ray Leaves No Secrets - #6752
Make no choices thinking that you can get away with sin. God and the Devil are both a lot smarter than you are.
Sleeping in the Back Seat - #6751
Where are you in this current situation in your life? Are you trying to drive or are you trying to help God drive? Or are you simply going to sleep in the back seat? Why don't you relax and let your Father drive. You'll wake up refreshed and you'll wake up right where you are supposed to be.
Gods That Die - #6740
It took a violent storm and near death for Jonah to wake up and let his false god die - whatever it was. See, when you cling to that false god, it says you forfeit the grace that could be yours. You're missing the best of God's gifts as long as you hang on to another god, a god that will die.
