The Paralympics Games are Underway!

The Paralympics started last Friday in Vancouver! About 600 athletes from 40 countries are participating in a variety of events designed for people with physical disabilities.

Events are divided into different classes for different disabilities. For example, the alpine skiing event has a class for double leg amputees, another for paraplegics, another for totally blind individuals and many others.

Here’s a video showcasing how Ice Sledge Hockey is played:

To be honest, I knew nothing about the Paralympics until the last summer’s games. I happened to stumble across the swimming event while channel surfing. It was incredible to watch people with various levels of amputations and visual impairments competing at an extremely high level.

Are you going to be watching the Paralympic games? Does our faith bring anything unique to our understanding of this competition?
