What Makes God Happy?

A few weeks back, the Gospel Coalition posted a short list of four things that make God happy:

  1. Giving “stuff” away
  2. Creating something
  3. Connecting people
  4. Doing something new

The original post has explanations of each of the points along with scriptural support.

One thing that I noticed was each item on the list is intimately wrapped up in relationships with other people. When we give stuff away, we provide for others. When we create or when we do something new, we bring joy or ease the suffering of others. When we connect people, we provide them opportunities to become friends.

Is there anything you’d add to this list? Are you good at any of them? Any that you need to work on?

There’s a lot that could be added to this, of course, but I’d like to suggest not complaining.

That’s a positive and a negative. On the “don’t” side there’s the simple fact of not complaining, something the Holy Spirit says indicates we’re children of God (Php. 2:14-15).

On the positive “do” side, it’s an act of faith, acknowledging that God controls our circumstances. All things work together for good and through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God (Rom. 8:29; Acts 14:21).

People with positive attitudes about their circumstances due to trust in God get to see God work over and over on their behalf. They are a delight to be around and an encouragement to everyone they meet.

about the things that make God happy I think he is happy when we tell people about him since he is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

I never thought about God being happy with us hwen we are creative, I write poetry and I never thhought that God would be happywith what I do.
The one i am weakest in is connecting people since I am extremely shy and don’t deal with people well. I’m a bit of a loner although I have some wonderful friends.
