Earth in the Bible: Genesis 1

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." The Bible begins with this account of God's creation of earth and its inhabitants. Christians debate and discuss the means by which God created the earth, but what this passage makes explicitly clear is that it was God who did it.

If you have no knowledge of faith, God or Jesus, how do you “understand” anything? I have no religion. Where does one go to begin the learning of things without becomming ‘brainwashed’ w/various people/ministers on t.v./or anyone inparticular’s ‘belief’?

what can i read to learn about God, Jesus, etc. I have no education or relgious backround & am don’t like to be brainwashed by individual television personalities/various ministries, etc. or self promotional persons pushing their own beliefs on me.

    Bonnie,

I’d suggest you get a Bible and read the book of John in the New Testament.

I would look for a church where the pastor teaches/preaches the scripture verse by verse. It is called expository preaching. It might be a denominational church, or likely a free standing congregation.

Our church has our pastor’s sermons on the church website in video. If you cannot find a church with expository preaching within reasonable driving distance (we drive 45 minutes in good weather), you could start out by watching the sermons at http://www.twincityfellowship.com
